Review Summaries
“The first thing to consider about the TickTalk 4 is who this is for. I’d say the age for this is range-bound from about 7 or 8 years old to around 10, maybe 11. Older than that, and I think a kid would chafe at the restrictions built into the watch, while younger kids aren’t really away from a parent enough to make this useful. So the sweet spot is really the age where the kids might go out and on their own on a bike ride or over at a friend’s for a sleepover, but they’re not yet buried in social media and games.”
“The TickTalk 4 phone-watch is pretty bulky, but it offers reliable safety, communication, and tracking features that both kids and parents will appreciate.”
“The TickTalk 4 keeps parental anxiety at bay with location tracking and an SOS button. And it caters to kids by streaming music or stories through iHeart Radio Family. The main downside is its price tag: around $200.”
“If you are looking for peace of mind, a way for both you and your child to be able to communicate with each other, and to dip your toes into letting them have a phone, then the TickTalk 3 is a great start. It’s durable, capable, and has the safety features you want as a parent. While it would be good to have geofencing options, a less bulky watch case, and better charging method — it’s a solid option for a connected kid’s smartwatch.”
“The TickTalk watches are really nicely designed watches and as it turns out when used correctly they serve as a great tool to keep kids safe and connected to siblings and family members. If the feature is enabled, they also allow kids to call 911 via a simple touch which could be a lifesaver in an emergency. While the multiple screens and options can be both entertaining and possibly a bit confusing to some kids, my kids love them.”
“Overall, our kid and adult tester both loved the TickTalk 4, and we saw this watch work well in the wild. The biggest drawback to the TickTalk 4 was the up-front cost of nearly $200. But it’s really the best and easiest to use out of the smartwatches for kids we’ve tested.”
“The TickTalk 4 is a smartwatch packed with fun features for both kids and parents. From dual-cameras to iHeart Radio integration to DND mode and secure communications, the TickTalk 4 can do almost everything.”
