You do if you have a small room and don’t want it to sound overly dead or if you already have a lot of absorption and want to increase it without overly dampening the high frequencies. Either way, at a $15 price bump over the standard 244 and Monster Bass Traps, it isn’t exactly going to blow your budget. We can see the new FlexRange panels becoming a staple in both DIY and professional installations.”
“Between the Sound Blocks and the AVAA Active traps (the only low-frequency absorbers in the room) bass is flat from about 60 Hz down to 30 Hz. I do not use a subwoofer because (so far) I haven’t been able to get one to work correctly (I’ll try again soon!) The bass is tighter, and that is hearable immediately. I like the stereo imaging better, as I get a good feeling of the stereo width and pan positioning. It was a lot of work but worth it. I’m also in love with the new look!”

As such, it merely enhances GIK’s existing products by providing a measure of diffusion and high-frequency scattering when and if needed. When in place, the Scatter Plate doesn’t appear to negatively affect the existing trap’s low-frequency absorption, which is a very good thing.”
