❌ Cons

The lighting in the bedroom isn’t well placed for putting on makeup, despite there being a few mirrors to choose from.
Some rooms can get stuffy.
For the second time, we weren’t given great information about parking options for disabled drivers.
Ambiance may be too spooky for some.
There is an option to order a continental breakfast in bed for £14 per person which for me seems on the pricey side.
No wifi information meant it was a little frustrating to know how to get on it, etc.
We had to wait a long time to check in as there were no staff around and then they were very slow.
Lighting too dim in places.
There was no safe in our bedroom for valuables and no welcome pack or room information.
The lack of plug points: I struggled to dry my hair and charge my phone at the same time.
t didn’t look particularly appealing from the outside in terms of first impressions.
There wasn’t exactly a large selection of toiletries as all you got were shower gel and shampoo/conditioner.
A suitable plug by the bed would be handy.
The hotel is not overly easy to spot immediately as it is in the middle of the Marina shopping centre via a lift to the reception.
No fitness center or spa facilities.
I was disappointed with the bathroom’s lack of ‘Malmaison’ style.

Review Summaries
This 95-room, upscale boutique hotel is housed in a beautifully refurbished former Victorian prison that retains a large portion of its original fixtures. Most rooms comprise three cells and are cozy and contemporary, though some can get stuffy. The rooftop bar looks out over the hotel’s prime central Oxford setting and is lovely on sunny days. Rates aren’t cheap though.
For our room, the rate was £90 per night, bed and breakfast and was worth every penny. The room was clean, comfortable and a pleasure to spend time in, I would come back in a heartbeat.
Would I return? Absolutely. I think for a couple wanting to enjoy a romantic night or weekend away or for a few girlfriends wanting to enjoy a stylish city break this is the perfect choice. I live in Edinburgh and I would consider going back for a special occasion overnighter and we’re already checking the diary to see when we can have another meat feast steak night.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Malmaison City Centre Edinburgh. The staff are fantastic and really know how to make you feel welcome and happy to go that extra mile. The rooms are stunning, and a most wonderful place to lay your head for a night or two. The food is good, but a few tweaks are recommended.
I am pretty sure you will agree our night #chezmal was superb value for money. £105 for a delicious three course meal and overnight stay is just amazing. I would not hesitate to book the eat, drink, sleep package again or recommend it to anyone looking for a night away with their partner.
We had a lovely experience staying at for a short one night break. Although, the weather in Nice wasn’t the greatest while we were there, the hotel provided us with a cozy escape from the rain. The staff were highly accommodating and did everything to ensure that our stay will be fantastic. I will definitely would love to return to stay at the hotel.
This was my first time staying at a Malmaison hotel, and I wouldn’t have known it was a chain if I hadn’t been told. The hotel and restaurant staff were friendly, the atmosphere was great, and we were around the corner from anything and everything in town. I’d definitely stay here on another visit to Belfast, and hope to be able to visit another Malmaison in the future.
The experience wasn’t as unique this time round, but the hotel offers a high quality, opulent setting that you’ve expect from a luxury hotel chain. So, with that in mind, although I’m not sure I’d pay full price to return here, I’d happily snap up another special offer if it came along.
This British brand’s London property is housed in an elegant white-fronted Victorian building that was once a nurse’s home. The Mal bar and brasserie draws in guests and locals alike, while rooms – which squeeze in fun touches such as hanging wine glasses – will suit anyone up for some cosmopolitan cool.
For what we paid the hotel was perfectly OK. The reception service definitely needs improvement though as it took far too long to check out as well. If you like modern decor with a quirky touch and want to stay somewhere reasonably priced then Malmaison is a reliable choice.
