❌ Cons

“The names of the products are hard to pronounce.”
“Merino wool requires more care than synthetic base layers.”
“I’m not sure if it’s the merino thickness (17.5 micron), fabric weight (170 g/m²) or the preparation of the merino but it wasn’t as fine as I’d like it to be.”
“It took the Isolation Midweight 18 hours to go from sopping wet to completely dry, which is on the slower end of the long underwear spectrum.”
“It takes a long time to line dry.”
“The loose fit of this top wasn’t our favorite.”
“I wish there were more colors available in more of the products.”
“I would love to see longer inseams for those of us that are tall.”
“The only real issue we have with Minus33 is that their clothing is not really versatile for everyday life.”
“We found it to be a shame that this cozy, warm material was somewhat wasted on a poor fit.”
“I would love to see thumb holes added to the cuffs and a slightly longer torso (for us taller girls).”
“The Isolation Midweight Wool was the least breathable of the merino wools, and one of the lowest scoring in this metric overall.”
“It is not as breathable as other options.”
“The waistband on these is quite thick.”
“There is tight elastic around calves.”
“These are slightly thicker than some thin leggings I have (100% cotton or lularoe type leggings).”
“I am not sure really, these base layers are awesome.”
“Cushioned lip at heel can slide down.”
“Some users have reported excessive pilling and pinholes after only a few wears.”
“Merino wool products are pricey, so being a heavyweight item made from 100% merino wool, it is expensive.”
“The hoody is on the heavy side (nearly 2 lbs) if pack weight is a big concern for you.”
“It is lacking in durability.”

Review Summaries
“While they will wick your moisture quickly, they are significantly more comfortable when you require warmth. During my 35 hours of travel back home, as my feet were freezing on a 10.5 hour flight, I found myself wishing Minus33’s Merino Wool Argyle Socks were clean and on my feet.”
“I highly recommend Minus33 and this Woolverino ¼ Zip Hoodie for winter hiking and snowsports. It makes a great base layer.”
“Great product that should last for years. If you’re looking for a heavyweight merino wool layer, I highly recommend this hoody.”
“These help keep me comfy overnight! I love that I’ll also be able to use them to bundle up ond says when I am going to be spending a lot of time outdoors in the winter. I think they’d make a great gift for anyone who spends time outside in a cold climate. Especially those who enjoy hunting, skiing, snowboarding, sledding or other outdoor winter activities.”
“For the price and the longer inseam, I recommend the Acadian boxers, with a caveat. If you’re looking for very fine, soft merino, you might need to look for a model with a thinner, finer wool. The thicker merino is likely going to last longer but you get a fabric that isn’t quite as soft. I’ll definitely be wearing these more for hikes and runs where the long inseam and performance is what I need.”
“With apologies to my other base layers, I have a feeling the Minus33 set is going to become my go-to set for backpacking, snowshoeing, and winter mountaineering trips…and probably for around the house, because they are just that soft and snuggly.”
“With great color choices, heightened comfort for athletic and normal activities, and super quick wicking, Minus33’s Merino Wool Light Trek Runner Sock is worthy of your attention.”
“The thick Minus33 Isolation Midweight Wool base layer has an attractive price tag, but its performance didn’t live up to the more expensive and more efficient models. Coming in toward the bottom of our list of competitors, we think the design of this product could stand improvement.”
“These are perfect for the warmer hunts in the early season as well as the colder sits of late December. I will continue to wear these on future hunts with confidence. Wool is definitely one of the best base layers that a hunter can wear and the Minus33 base layers will serve you well.”
“The Minus33 Kancamagus Midweight Merino Wool Bottoms are well-designed to keep you comfortable and thriving when the weather turns cold and wintry, surrounding you in a layer of thick, soft, 100% Merino wool fabric.”
“This shirt certainly has the chops to be your outer layer when hunting in temperatures from 30°F to 60°F and if you are seriously active even below those temperatures. However around freezing temperatures where I see this shirt really shine is as my mid-layer between a base-layer and my outer-layer jacket as pure warm and soft insulation. It works well, wicks moisture and if I need to shed my jacket to cool off or open up a few buttons to create airflow, I can easily do that.”
“Minus33 emerges as a strong contender in the world of merino wool clothing. Their thoughtfully designed products showcase their dedication to quality, comfort, and performance. From their commitment to sustainable practices to their user-friendly approach to fabric weight and activity categorization, Minus33 prioritizes the outdoor enthusiast’s experience.”
“Overall, I really enjoyed the Minus33 base layer and socks. The Minus33 base layer felt great next to my skin and did a great job giving me some extra insulation from the cold. While the bottoms were way too short (insert tall girl problems here) to keep my mid-calf and below warm, I was able to combat that by wearing over-the-calf socks.”
“I know I used the word love a lot when describing the Minus33 clothing, but it’s the best way to describe how much I like their products. The micro weight is perfect for summer and layering, and the midweight is just what we need for our southeastern winters. Plus, everything is well made, and the fabric texture is soft and silky. On top of that, their products are affordable. True to their mission, they make great gear so everyone can feel prepared in the outdoors. I can get behind that.”
“While I like both of these Minus33 garments and find them very functional and comfortable, I still prefer wearing a synthetic base layer for all of my winter hiking and backpacking. Wool has definite advantages if you run cold, need a warmer core, and dislike body odor, but I run hot when I’m actively hiking/backpacking and would rather stay drier and cooler.”
